The Gallery Players of Niagara presents chamber music in the Niagara Region. We organize and perform chamber music in traditional and non-traditional venues. We focus on informal presentations that are meant to invite our audiences in, remove barriers, demystify art and integrate the joy of small-scale music-making in people’s daily lives. The Gallery Players is a Not for Profit charitable organization.
For the past 16 years the Gallery Players has been growing an audience in Niagara and in the wider Canadian music scene. One of its core ensembles, the Eybler Quartet (seen below) has just produced its’ second CD with Analekta Records.
The Gallery Players’ Artistic Director Margaret Gay says “we are really looking forward to the new arts centre, and having a small recital hall designed specifically for the sort of music we perform. Having access to a well kept grand piano, proper stage lighting, backstage facilities for performers, controlled temperatures etc will help us produce concerts at the highest level”.
Our audience is primarily the populations of the City of St. Catharines, and the surrounding populations of the Niagara Region. The audience has also regularly included people from as far away as Hamilton, Toronto, Kitchener and Buffalo. We hope that the building of a recital hall will encourage more people to come from further afield to hear our concerts.
